ART EXPOSURE GALLERY

MOIRA KELMAN

After several years as a partner in a city centre law firm, I decided to change careers and began to study at the Glasgow School of Art.  Motherhood, however, then intervened and I was only able to begin to return to art about fifteen years ago.

Currently I paint in oil and acrylic, and while my work so far has included all subjects, ( including figurative paintings)  I am now concentrating  mainly on abstract landscapes and still-lives, with colour being the most important element in my work.  I do  also aim  for  textural  variety and simplicity of composition, with the  conveying of the atmosphere of my subjects being more important than their literal portrayal.

At the moment  I travel abroad very  frequently and keep myself constantly exposed to new visual  experiences of other  lands  and cultures , while still being influenced by the Ayrshire countryside around me.
